General Information
Hakone is a bi-annual symposium which brings together scientists and engineers working on chemical and physico-chemical phenomena in non-thermal plasmas operating at atmospheric pressure. The objective is to exchange ideas on fundamental aspects of these discharges and to discuss current developments on their applications in various fields like gaseous and water treatment, generation of radiation, biological aspects, surface processing, …
Further more, Hakone aims to provide a forum for sharing knowledge, experience and creative ideas in a friendly atmosphere.
- Symposium Format
The format of HAKONE XI follows that of the previous symposia. There will be no parallel sessions. The symposium will be organized in invited, contributed oral presentations, and in poster sessions. The symposium language will be English. Time will be devoted for informal discussions. Books containing papers presented at the conference will be given to all participants.
According to HAKONE tradition, the symposium will be limited to 100-110 participants.
- Topics
Nearly all subjects in the basic research and plasma processing of the high pressure (typically 1 bar) and low temperature plasma chemistry have their platform at this conference. Traditionally, the Hakone subject areas are defined as:
- Fundamental problems of high pressure discharges
- Modeling and diagnostics
- Molecular synthesis and decomposition
- Ozone generation and applications
- Generation of radiation in high pressure discharges
- Depollution and environmental applications
- Surface processing and technology (cleaning, coating, etching and modification, equipment)
- Biological applications
- Miscellaneous
- Conference location
The venue for HAKONE XI is the (Conference Centre of the CNRS ) on the Oléron Island, on the Atlantic coast
This 90 acres village includes 2 ponds and a forest area and offers a direct access to the seashore. It is located in the protected area of the marsh of Moëze, near Fort Royer and Fort Boyard oyster farms. The participants of the symposium will be accommodated in bungalows in the centre.
Transportation will be organized on Sunday September 7 afternoon from La Rochelle. La Rochelle is at 3hours by high speed train (TGV) from Paris and 2hours by train from Bordeaux.
- Social Program
The social program will include a welcome party, a conference dinner and a conference tour (Fort Boyard and Aix Island.
Delegates are welcome to bring their families. Excursions will be organized for them at various locations: Oléron island , Rochefort and La Rochelle.
